School Days

Neriah’s school journey began at Sellincourt Primary school in Tooting where her artistic talents started to take root. It was at this time that she dedicated every Saturday to learning street dance and contemporary dance at the Methodist church she attended. Neriah joined Chesnut Grove School in September 1990 and it was not until the 'after school dance club' run by the Chesnut Grove Lindy Hoppers, that she started to show her natural dance talent. It was here that her love for the performing arts flourished under the watchful eye of Mr Brooks, affectionately known as 'Sir'. Mr Brooks the dance teacher at the time recalls the many hours of practice she put in. The dance group performed all around London, entering competitions and performing on Blue Peter three times. It was his dedication as a teacher that served to guide Neriah through some important decisions of her educational life and later, her career. Through Chesnut Grove Neriah had a tasted of the authentic jazz dance that was to have such a lasting influence on her life
